Not sure which is the right needle / needle cartridge for your work? No problem! In our overview, we explain exactly which configuration is suitable for what. Once you have found the right configuration, choose between the different needle module housings:

Standard Cartridges for your usual tattoo experience.

Comfort Cartridges for a comfortable grip in the hand thanks to the soft rubber handle.

Slim Line Cartridges with a thinner tip. Particularly suitable for fine line and realistic work.

Biodegradable Cartridges for more environmental awareness. The housing is biodegradable after the needle has been removed.

ALL cartridges are equipped with a safety membrane and the original Magic Moon steel needles.

For all traditional artists, we also offer long bar needles.  Long Bar Needles.

Taper & Needle Size

The illustration on the left explains the different types of taper. The finer you want your work to be, the larger your chosen taper should be.
The needle size describes the diameter of the individual needles. See illustration on the right.

Our article numbers are made up of the cartridge model, configuration, needle size, number of needles and taper type.

The Most Important Questions About Tattoo Needles and Cartridges at a Glance

How do I know if the cartridge fits my tattoo pen?

Tattoo cartridges from Magic Moon are compatible with all common tattoo machines and pens, such as CheyenneNeuma, or Critical. Simply plug them in and start tattooing.

What does needle thickness mean?

Needle thickness indicates the diameter of the needle tip in millimeters. It influences how fine or bold the tattooed line appears. Ultra-thin needles like our Lunar series with 0.18 mm are ideal for realistic work, fineline, permanent makeup, and medical tattoos.

What is taper in tattoo needles?

The taper describes the length of the needle tip. Medium and long tapers are most common, while Bug Pin needles have an extra-long taper that allows ultra-fine, precise lines.

What does needle configuration mean?

Needle configuration refers to the type and arrangement of needles, defining their use. For example: Round Liners are used for outlines, Magnums for shading or filling. A complete overview can be found in above in the Needle Knowledge section.

What does the number under “Needles” mean?

The number specifies how many needles are soldered together on the bar. A “3” means that three needles penetrate the skin simultaneously when tattooing.

Which needle or cartridge should I use?

How do I clean my needles while tattooing?

During tattooing, you can clean needles and cartridges to switch colors. We recommend Cleaning Caps: fill them with water and Oxxolon, run the needle into the sponge, and it will be cleaned within seconds without damage.

Are tattoo needles and cartridges disposable?

Yes. All tattoo needles and cartridges are single-use products and must be disposed of safely in a sharps container after the tattoo session.
