0.30 mm is our standard diameter and works for most pieces. Made for large areas of soft shading and smooth black & grey gradients: the 33-needle Soft Edge Round Shader Comfort Cartridge.

Comfort means the same needles as the standard cartridge plus a rubberised front for better grip. Round and soft-edged, it leaves no lines at any angle. No more twisting your wrist to get smooth shading. The round grouping spreads ink evenly, so you can shade big areas in fewer passes. Control comes from the long taper and its long, slim tip.

What is the soft edge round shader used for?

• Black & grey and realism: smooth tonal transitions in portraits, backgrounds and shadows
• Large areas: shade sleeves, backs and thighs evenly in just a few passes
• Greywash and smoke effects: soft gradients without hard edges
• Colour blending: gradients across big surfaces
• Any angle: the round soft edge leaves no lines, however you hold the machine

The line comes in three sizes, all 0.30 mm with a long taper: 3033 with 33 needles, 3055 with 55 and 3077 with 77. This item is the 33-needle version.
